Sometimes we struggle with our walk with God and we feel so dry. It feels like we are in a desert. It feels like we are living in the midst of a drought. I’m referring to days we are spiritually dry. I would be sharing 6 things to do when you feel spiritually dry.
When we pray, it’s as if God is not there. We hear nothing. We pick up the bible and we get nothing as well. Then we say to ourselves; ‘ I’ve read this particular verse of the Bible more than 4 times, there’s nothing new here’. So why read it again?
Other times you pick up your Bible to read and it feels like the scripture is written in another language. Everything you read is not even getting to you. You don’t understand a dime!
Sometimes, we feel it’s because of one particular unclean thing we did in the secret when no one was watching. So we decide to go with the flow and become so cold, complacent and be like ‘I can’t kill myself’.
To be honest we all experience our own spiritually dry seasons. Some people have experienced this but they have gone past it.
What can we do when we feel spiritually dry? How can one get out of it? Do you think we should remain in that position for as long as we want?!
I’d be sharing some tips here as laid on my heart and I really pray it blesses whoever is reading and whoever it is that needs it😍…Amen!
Feeling Spiritually dry? Things to do.
. TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT IT…
We all have people that have grown spiritually than we have. People we can be accountable to. Those we rely on and run to when we seem not to get some things right. Speak to them! Tell them exactly how you feel, don’t hide anything. They can help by praying with you, telling you what to do, or in whatever way it is laid in their hearts.
Note: Don’t just talk to an anyhow/immature person, talk to someone you TRUST😍! Choosing friends
. GET A PRAYER PARTNER
Sometimes, praying with someone asides yourself strengthens you and gives you vibes. It might happen that this person would hear God on your behalf, give you words of wisdom, push you to pray beyond your normal timeframe, and whatsoever it is God would do through this person. He would do it!….( **whispers** I’m sure most of you have someone you can call any day anytime to pray with you)
Praying with someone helps!
. GO TO CHURCH
I don’t mean to go to the mountain for 30days or observe 21days dry fasting and prayer. Bathe with holy water and all. Nope! ( but if God is leading you to do it, you’re free)… Here, I mean, go to church. Be with other fellow believers. It’s this period we are. Spiritually we feel the need to be all alone, not attend any service or meeting. We feel it’s not needed but see, it’s a lie from the pit of hell. All you need to break out of that cycle might be gotten through the Praise and worship session, Choir ministration, sermon, someone’s testimony, a fellow believer’s hug/smile/chat asking how you are etc… You never can tell; Get up and go!
You can as well go on a retreat. You know that feeling of ; God we die here! … I won’t leave until there’s a change.. I won’t leave till you speak’. , that’s what I’m talking about. During this period, engage in spiritual things (praying, studying, fasting, reading books, listening to songs and sounds, etc). I mean, spiritual songs. They help!
. INTENTIONALLY STAY IN GOD’S PRESENCE / SOAKING
I don’t know how best to explain this but I’d try to make it simple. You know how it’s done in movies when a woman is asked to undergo a silent hour during a therapy. A sound is being played in the background and then she’s told to let go of all the pain, hurt, and whatsoever thing she’s holding in. Yeah! Soaking is something like that. Play spirit-filled songs (I prefer ‘tunes”…but you can pick whatever it is that works better for you), just let go, be STILL bodily and sonically and focus on absorbing the energy of God in that atmosphere. You can try this for as long as you feel. Trust me, it works for!
Meditating on God’s word sheds more light on our eyes and heart. It awakens this passion and fire in us! There’s a refreshing that comes from it And besides, there’s a promise behind meditating according to His word. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes and shed more light as you study the word.
Psalms1:1-3.(I’d be sharing the TPT version)…What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways! He won’t walk in step with the wicked, nor share the sinner’s way, nor be found sitting in the scorner’s seat. His pleasure and passion are remaining true to the Word of “I Am,” meditating day and night in the true revelation of light. He will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of his life. He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous!!
See? No dryness but flourishing🌹! These are the things you can do in your spiritually dry season. I hope this was helpful.
