Here is a quick question – How do you feel when you lack something and you want that thing so bad?

For me, I feel so frustrated, unhappy, I start sulking(as if sulking will provide answers, lol), I feel so cranky. Have you ever felt this way before?

This was me some times back, I didn’t have money(lol) what we call being broke. You can imagine the frustration. – Your’s might not be money, just try to relate to it and follow through.

Around my period of Lack, I learnt something and I would be sharing it with you.

I learnt that BEING GRATEFUL BRINGS ABUNDANCE – It means that when you are grateful for the little things you have, it brings abundance.

That’s how I decided to do it ooo. I became so conscious of made day and I would say thank to God for anything and everything. My devotion was just based on gratitude for days. I kept saying Thank You, I’m grateful God. I usually ran out of words actually, but I just find a reason to say thank you.

Mind you – I was broke during this period.

After days of doing this, something happened!


GBAM! Were you expecting me to say someone called me or I received an unexpected Credit Alert?. No, that didn’t happen.

What I realized was that I was always happy and joyful(it was strange and unexplainable). My focus has shifted from me being broke to being happy.

This verse of the Bible came to my mind during this period –

Philippians 4:6-7
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.

Being thankful brought Peace! Happiness! Joy!. I understood better – that being Grateful equals abundance doesn’t mean that what I want will actually come, but there would be peace and joy in abundance. This joy would actually carry me through my want or lack season.

Even when you don’t seem to be getting what you want to make gratitude a part of your daily routine.

It’s impossible to be grateful and unhappy at the same moment in time.
Any moment, hour, day, or week that you are unhappy, you have chosen to let your focus rest on something other than the gifts you have been given. Let your unhappiness serve as an alarm to redirect your focus and energy. If you want to increase your happiness, every time you notice unhappiness creeping into your thoughts, redirect your focus to those wonderful gifts.

We all have something we want at one point in our lives, start by telling it to God and move to be thankful. Focus less on what you want and start being grateful for what you have.

Start by becoming more conscious of your day, write out what you are grateful for and continually say thank you for the smallest things!
